Mitch McGarry - Michigan + 50 points

LaQuinton Ross Ohio State + 31 points

Ryan Kelly - Duke  <33 points>

The reasoning for this payout:

For a $50 payout, this is a very underrated part of our game but obviously totally uncontrollable.  This payout portion was instituted a number of years ago to "reward" or payback if you will, the guy who got shafted the most out of his draft picks.  There is a +/- column now added to the printouts that calculates how many points your draft pick scored over or <under> his regular season average during the NCAA tournament.  It's a simple calculation of multiplying the number of games played times the reg season average less the total points scored thus far in the tournament.  This becomes the +/- number for each draft pick.

Before the tournament starts, we can only go on what our draft picks scored per game during the regular season.  We have no control over how they are asked to perform by the coaching staff or actually perform in pressure situations during the NCAA tournament, so their tournament scoring may or may not be affected negatively.

John Lehman at <105> points, accumulated the most negative amounts from his draft selections in the 2013 NCAA tournament.  Had they scored what they did during the regular season, it would have changed his final position in the game slightly from 9th to 8th place but not into a money position.

The recalculated rerun of the points with the negative totals added back and the positive totals subtracted show pretty much the same results that our Final Results ended up at.

note: the player averages used are from ESPN.com's website after the regular season is over and before they play in any post season game.  The only exception to this would be from those teams who came out of nowhere to qualify which almost always happens and then we use whatever their end of the year (including post season tournament) average per game

  • Best Player(s) : Mitch McGarry (Michigan) accumulated a + 50 point total during the tournament for the SID team.  The good news was that for SID, the bad news is that they drafted the player Jordan Morgan of Michigan who McGarry took the starting job from.  Morgan finished with a <25> point total during the tournament.
  • Worst Player : Ryan Kelly (Duke) accumulated a <33> point total for the Noffke team during the tournament.  Kelly was drafted in the 1st round, 8th pick overall.  After returning from an injury Kelly poured in 32 points his first game back as Duke beat Miami (FL) that Saturday afternoon on March 2nd.  The next game he popped in 18 more against Va Tech.  Ever since that date in early March, Kelly did not hit double figures in scoring, so he kind of turned out to be a flop pick and possibly cost Noffke team the win this year.
