FInal Four recap

# 2 seed Villanova put a whipping on # 2 seed Oklahoma in the first Final 4 game on Saturday night, the final was 95-51.  They threw a number of defenders on Buddy Hield to hold him to 9 points on 4 of 12 shooting and set a Final 4 record by beating Oklahoma by 44 points.  The Wildcats also avenged an early season, 23 point loss to Oklahoma, back in Hawaii (think about that, that is a 67 point swing).  Villanova with 6 players in double figure scoring shot 71% for the game compared to 32% for Oklahoma.

In the second game of the evening, # 1 seed North Carolina dispatched # 10 seed Syracuse by a final of 83-66. The Orangemen played well this tournament as not very many had them getting to the Sweet 16 let alone the Final 4.  North Carolina had well balanced scoring from all 5 starters and were led by Brice Johnson and Justin Jackson who each scored 16 points.  Trevor Cooner led Syracuse with 22 points.  This was North Carolina's 3rd Final 4 win in 13 seasons under head coach Roy Williams.

Our game:

The Trevino team of Nick & Ralph are literally lapping the field much like Team Noffke did last year.  They have a 150 point lead going into the Final game and have exceeded the 1000 point mark (1018) in our NCAA tournament game which is a new record!  They have already broken the overall record of 963 points set by the Commissioner back in 1990.  To further clarify how well these two drafted this year, they still have their #2, #3, #4, and 5th round draft picks playing in the final game.  Their # 1 pick Buddy Hield just lost in the semi final game against Villanova but he will most likely lead the tournament in scoring this year.

Fighting to hold on to 2nd place this year is the Commissioner Krautstrunk who has 868 points thus far, only 2 points ahead of Team Noffke (Mark & Steve Noffke and Bruce Martin).  The Commissioner has 3 players still in the game, all with Villanova, while Noffke has 1 player remaining Brice Johnson of UNC.  Brice already averaging 20 a game thus far in the tournament needs 26 points in the championship game to tie Buddy Hield as the leading scorer in the tournament this year.

+/- Leader ($65 payout 1/2 the entry fee):

Ron Seymour & Dave Eccles probably have this in check for the tournament with a total of <126>.  Their draft pick of Naz Long of Iowa State did not play in the tournament and they went 3 games so his <36> leads the individual ranking. The next closest is the Team Lehman, John Lehman & Joe Quebbeman who are at <94> through 5 games.
