Elite 8 now is set

<- Wichita State's Fred VanVleet is the leading scorer in the tournament but Wichita State was beaten by Notre Dame in the sweet 16.   VanVleet, a junior from Rockford IL averaged 23.0 points per game or 32 more points than expected for Team Trevino.  VanVleet was picked in the 10th round, 92nd pick overall.

From a tournament standpoint, the following conferences have teams represented in the Elite 8

ACC - 3 (DUKE, NOTRE DAME, LOUISVILLE)

BIG 10 - 2 (WISCONSIN, MICHIGAN STATE)

PAC 12 - 1 (ARIZONA, UTAH, UCLA)

SEC- 1 (KENTUCKY)

WEST COAST - 1 (GONZAGA)

Current year - tournament recap:

There were no # 1 seeds losing in the Sweet 16 as Villanova lost in the round of 32.  The 3 remaining # 1 seeds in the tournament are Kentucky in the Midwest, Wisconsin in the West and Duke in the South.  The highest seed left in the Elite 8 would be # 7 seed Michigan State which seems to always be in the mix no matter where they are seeded.

Current year - NCAA draft game recap:

Team Noffke (Mark & Steve Noffke & Bruce Martin) are projected to widen their lead over current 2nd place Bob Glinke by 174+ points after the Elite 8 games.   Team Trevino (Ralph & Nick Trevino) are computed to pass Glinke this weekend and move into 2nd place but still a distant 150+ points behind Team Noffke.  Really I see a fight for 2nd through possibly 4th place this year with no chance of catching Team Noffke.  Matt Krautstrunk & Jeremiah Royer are having a very nice year this year in the draft and they still have 9 players in the tournament less Chris Jones who was drafted but will not play for Louisville.

The matchups for the Elite 8 have been prepared and if you go to the Elite 8 Matchups tab, you can retrieve a copy of the Saturday & Sunday game matchups or click here for the pdf file.
