FINAL 4 has been set:

<- Trevino team's overall # 1 pick Russ Smith has been phenomenal thus far in the tournament.  Smith has led Louisville in scoring (104 pts 26.0 avg) and leadership and is way ahead (34 points) of the next closest active player in the draft to lead the 2013 tournament in scoring.

FINAL 4 GAMES ON SATURDAY APRIL 6TH

# 8 Wichita State Shockers vs # 1 Louisville Cardinals

# 4 Michigan Wolverines vs # 4 Syracuse Orangemen

What a weekend of action.  The only # 1 seed left in the tournament are the Louisville Cardinals and they look strong.  I can't think Wichita State has enough in the tank to slow down the Cardinals who will be helped emotionally if Kevin Ware is there on Saturday night.  Speaking of which, was that one of the more gruesome sights to witness live on Sunday?  Poor guy is laying there on the floor in so much pain and he's telling his teammates to go and win the game.

Marquette, Ohio State and Florida going down in the Elite 8 hurt our draft projections quite a bit.  Each of these 3 teams lost to a seed that was higher (lower in rank) than them but isn't that kind of the way this season has gone all along?

Sometimes when you have drafted from a team that has great expectations that gets bounced in the first round, like # 2 Duke losing in the first round to # 15 Lehigh or # 2 Missouri losing to # 15 Norfolk State, you get a little gun shy in revisiting that again the next year in the draft.

Our game:

This year, the top four teams in the draft game are pretty close.  38 points separate the current first place Trevino team of Ralph, Sam & Nick and the 4th place Stenzel team of Rob Stenzel & Jason Schladenhauffen.  Tucked in between is the Keuper team of Kevin Keuper & Dave Eccles.  They are only 13 points out of 1st place but only have Cleanthony Early of Wichita State left while Trevino has 4 players still in the tournament including Russ Smith the leading scorer from Louisville.  9 points behind Keuper and only 22 points away from first is the Noffke team of Mark & Steve Noffke & Bruce Martin.  Looking back, I feel the Noffke team really had a solid draft as they still have 5 players playing in the Final 4.

Last year's # 2 team Commissioner and # 3 team Lehman are both out of players and will not figure in the picture this year.

Top 3 Leading Scorers in the tournament ($25 to leading scorer):

Leaders:    Ralph Trevino's - Russ Smith (Louisville) - 104 pts (still in)

Kevin Keuper's - Deshaun Thomas (Ohio St) - 89 pts (out)

Dennis Hammer's - Seth Curry (Duke) -  84 pts (out)

+/- Leader ($50 payout):

This year, the Lehman team has this pretty much locked up with their <105> point level through 4 games played.  They had 6 draft picks finish in double digit negative scoring for the tournament.

The next closest team behind the Lehman team is Keuper at <81> but with one player remaining Cleanthony Early, (Wichita State) even if he were to fall and break a leg....oops that is so wrong, they could not catch Lehman.
