FINAL 4 has been set:

Team Noffke's 20th round draft pick, Malachi Richardson a freshman from New Jersey helped push the 10th seeded Orangemen to a big Elite 8 victory over # 1 Virginia.

FINAL 4 GAMES ON SATURDAY APRIL 2nd

# 2 Villanova Wildcats vs # 2 Oklahoma Sooners

# 10 Syracuse Orangemen vs # 1 UNC Tar Heels

We entered the Elite games this past weekend with 4 # 1 seeds still intact of the 8 teams, Kansas, Oregon, Virginia and North Carolina.  Very similar to what happened during the regular season, only one team survived, the North Carolina Tar Heels

Our game:

For many of us, this seems like a rerun from last year.  Last year we were talking about Team Noffke steam rolling everybody pushing by Team Trevino by a projected 206 points after the Final 4 games.  This year it's Team Trevino (Ralph & Nick) who are expected to go past the 1,000 point level and be ahead of the Commissioner (Steve Krautstrunk) by 153 points after Saturday's games and this number will most likely be higher with Buddy Hield scoring at will in this tournament.

The scoring is up this year, no matter how you look at it.  With 9 teams drafting (lost Matt Krautstrunk at the last minute), the overall scoring actually is higher this year than last.  Through 4 games played, we've accumulated 6571 points and our picks have played 588 games in the tournament for an average of 11.2.  Last year at this point, our game had 6322 points from 608 games played for and average of 10.4.

The fight for 2nd and 3rd place, it really depends on how the draft pick plays and who wins on Saturday, these should be 2 really good games.  Right now, using regular season average, I have the Commish ahead of Team Noffke by only 15 points after Saturday night.  Commish is really leaning on Villanova while Team Noffke is riding the big Orange wave of Syracuse but they do have Brice Johnson on UNC.

One draft team, Ken Kremer's team, does not have a player left in the tournament this year.

Top 4 Leading Scorers in the tournament ($25 to leading scorer):

Leaders:    Team Trevino 's - Buddy Hield (Oklahoma) - 117 pts (still in)

Team Kremer's - Georges Niang (Iowa State) - 86 pts (out)

Team Noffke's - Brice Johnson (UNC) -  84 pts (still in)

Bob Glinke's - Perry Ellis (Kansas) -  73 pts (out)

+/- Leader ($50 payout):

This year, Team Seyccles Dave Eccles and Ron Seymour are in the lead for this payout with a cumulative <136> points through 4 games played.  This should hold up for the payout as they are 63 points worse than the next team, Team Hammer at <74>.I believe this will probably hold up for the payout.  They have 6 draft picks with double digit accumulated negative scoring for the tournament.  Out of their 30 draft picks, 9 had positive productivity accumulating a + 45 total and 21 had negative productivity accumulating a - 181 points, ouch.

3 drafting teams are positive in the point performance from their picks this year.  Team SID is at + 45, Commissioner Krautstrunk is + 41 and TeamTrevino is + 28.

The best draft pick so far with most accumulated positive points over regular season average is SID"s pick of Angel Rodriguez (Miami) selected in the 6th round, 54th pick overal ended up at + 30 points.  The worst pick was Team Seyccles pick of Nazareth Mitrou-Long who was injured back in December and out for the year.  With Iowa State playing 3 games and his average was 12.0 a game he accumulated a <36> total.

24 Draft Rounds won or (projected to win) at ($10 / round):

The dominance of the Trevino team's draft performance is evident with the results/projected results of the leading scorer by draft round.  For the first time in many years every draft team will win something.

Trevino team - 5 1/3 rounds won (9,12,13,24,25,29(3 way tie), 1 projected to win (1st) = 6 1/3

SID - 3 1/3 rounds won (6,11,17,29(tie) split 3 ways), 1 projected to win (7th) = 4 1/3

Commissioner Krautstrunk - 2 rounds won (14,19), 1 projected to win (18) = 3

Team Hammer - 2 1/3 rounds won (8,27,29(tie) split 3 ways)

Noffke team - 2 rounds won (21,28)

Dave & Ron Team Seyccles - 2 rounds won (15,23)

Team Kremer - 2 rounds won (26,30)

Bob Glinke - 1 round won  (22)

Team Lehman - 1 round won (10)

6 Draft Rounds still open - 2,3,4,5,16 & 20
