Sweet 16 has been set: <- Omar Samhan (St Marys) From a tournament standpoint, the following leagues are represented in the Sweet 16 Big East - 3 Big 10 - 3 Big 12 - 2 SEC - 1 ACC - 1 PAC 12 - 1 ATL 10 - 1 Horizon - 1 West Coast - 1 IVY - 1 Missouri Valley - 1
Overheard on the radio waves last evening, Sunday night 03/21/10, that back in 2007, Maryland coach Gary Williams was quoted complaining about the over inflated RPI numbers from the Missouri Valley conference schools. He went on to state that the MVC schools do not make an effort to schedule any ACC schools, intimating that the MVC was afraid to play any ACC teams.
It was then noted that over the past 5 NCAA tournaments (2006-2010) that 4 different teams from the MVC have made it to the Sweet 16, Wichita State & Bradley (2006), SIU (2007) and Northern Iowa (2010). Over that same time frame, only 2 different teams from the ACC have advanced to the round of Sweet 16, North Carolina and Duke. Gary, you may want to rethink your thought process here!
Current year: It appears that Rob Stenzel will take this draft for the 3rd year in a row as he's running away with this, after the 1st 2 games played. I believe there will be a fight for the 2nd and 3rd place positions as the "projected" difference after the Sweet 16 games, from 2nd place to 7th place, is only 23 points. The matchups for this weekend has been prepared and if you click here, you can retrieve a copy of this Thursday and Friday matchups.
Through 2nd round games - top 4 drafters (1-3 pay): 1st: Rob Stenzel - 623 2nd: Mark Noffke - 549 3rd: Bob Glinke - 529 4th: John Lehman - 516
Top 3 Leading Scorers in the tournament: Leader: Rob Stenzel's - Omar Samhan (St Mary's) - 61 pts (still in) Mark Noffke's - Jimmer Fredette (BYU) - 58 pts (out) Steve Krautstrunk's - Jordan Crawford (Xavier) - 55 pts (still in)
