Field narrowed from 64 to 32 teams:
Although it is early to
predict anything after Thursday and Friday's first round action, a few
upsets did happen which inevitably threw a few wrinkles into the old
bracket predictions.

I consider an upset
if the difference between the seeds is 5 or greater. This year's
first round games we witnessed the following upsets, In the
Midwest region, #14 Ohio beat #3 Georgetown rather handily 97-83.
In the West region, #12 Murray State dispatched Vanderbilt in a
very tight game 66-65. The East region had a couple of games that
were considered upsets with #12 Cornell defeating # 5 Temple
78-65 and #11 Washington barely nipping #6 Marquette 80-78.
Finally in the South region, #11 Old Dominion squeaked by highly
regarded #6 Notre Dame 51-50.
A great turnout at
the open house Thursday and Friday. A big thank you to all that
participated, it makes watching the games that much more interesting and
exciting.
